"I had gained about 25kg over the last 10 years since settling down and having children. Recently I had been successful losing some weight by dieting, but I knew I had to bite the bullet and start exercising if I wanted to make a sustainable change. I’ve never been able to commit to or enjoy regular exercise in the past and it was really desperation that made me give bootcamp a try.

It’s been a revelation. Jason and Lara and the rest of the group have been supportive and encouraging. I’ve been able to set my own pace and yet still be ‘pushed’ enough to improve. 3 sessions a week is not too onerous but it’s enough to make a difference. The variety of activities and locations means that it doesn’t get boring and it’s really a pleasure to enjoy the beautiful environment around Kingscliff early in the morning.

I’ve lost about a kilogram a week on the scales but I can tell by the fit of my clothes and how I feel that bootcamp has made a much bigger difference than that. I actually look forward to each session – it’s a miracle!

Through the combination of diet and exercise I’ve lost 15kg in the last 6 months. If you’re like me and you really struggle to motivate yourself to exercise regularly, you should give bootcamp a try.

"I have participated in 5 Boot camps so far.
Its a very addictive activity when you see results with your fitness levels.

What I like is that you are tested at the beginning and at the end. The end test always feels better as you can push yourself harder after 5 weeks of training. The first boot camp I hated running, but it is a good measure of improved fitness and you slowly learn to like it as the weeks go on.

Encouragement throughout the 5 weeks from our two great trainers also helps, no yelling. The team environment is also a plus, as you see others improve as well.

Just a quick note to say THANK YOU to Lara, Jason and Boot Camp!

I have been training with Lara and Jason at Bodimatters since November last year. I have struggled with my weight all of my adult life and had tried lots of ways to lose and weight and get fit. I had started strength training and had enjoyed that but was looking for another challenge. I had become stronger with weights, but wanted to increase my cardio fitness. I saw the 5 week boot camp challenge advertised in the local paper, it would take me just up the Christmas and hopefully I would be fitter and leaner! I signed up and although I struggled with my first boot camp, mainly due to the early morning starts, now I can’t image life without Lara and Jason. I was looking for a physical and mental challenge and that it certainly what I got. Lara and Jason just seem have the right balance in encouraging and motivating you to achieve your goals and most importantly they know when and how to push you to that next level. When I started with them and ran 2klms, my goal was not to stop running (shuffling) – I didn’t like to run and I would say ‘I can’t run to save my life’.

Thanks to boot camp, at the Gold Coast marathon I managed to run the 10klms in 68 mins and I didn’t stop shuffling! Over the last 15 weeks I have really concentrated on my eating and have also managed to lose just under 10kgs. I have polycystic ovary syndrome – PCOS - a condition related to hormone imbalance, with weight gain a common symptom – it is generally difficult to lose weight however one of the key treatments is exercise management, to hopeful assist in maintain a healthy body weight and avoid the problems, such as insulin resistant Type II Diabetes, associated with PCOS. I can’t believe how good I feel and how much better I cope with life, I believe that is because I am physically fitter, I am mentally stronger.

The best thing about boot camp (apart from the trainers) are the friends that I have made and the enjoyment I get from training with a group of like minded people. They come from all walks of life and with all different levels of physical fitness. To see myself improve and to watch others increase their fitness is motivating in itself. I also enjoy the variety of each session and you can never really be sure what will be next, which never gets boring. Congratulations Lara and Jason for doing such a great job in inspiring and encouraging me to achieve fitness and weight loss goals beyond my expectations.

"Good morning lara and jason,

About 8 weeks ago i looked at myself double chin, belly pushing over the pants that should not be tight, got on the scales and looked at horror at the 95.8 kg that it was saying (yelling really) and decided this must be were mid life crisis starts.

Then 7 weeks ago i joined up and now here today on my 43 birthday i thought i should send a short note to say thanks,

this morning i did a small test ..... the scales are now saying 89.2kg, those tight pants are now loose ... almost to the fall down embarrassing stage, the waist was 95cm now 92, hips were 93 now 91 upper thigh 62 now 60 ..... and as for the fitness level ...... who would have thought a volunteer sprint up the big dune to get the cones !!!

So in short thanks for what you have done for me. Tony"

"I started boot camp to try and undo my winter hibernation and get back in shape for summer. When I showed up to the first session, I had no idea how unfit I was, but the fitness test really showed me! At the end of the 5 weeks the second fitness test told the story. I had improved across all exercises from being in the "average" or "below average"
category to "above average" or "excellent". I also cut 2 minutes off my 2km run time. The scales also told the story with 5kg lost in 5 weeks.

I felt so good I decided I would make boot camp part of my ongoing fitness regime. I have now almost finished my second 5 weeks and am actually hanging out for the next one to start after Xmas. Thanks Lara and Jason"
